This remarkable member of the great cast of Australian fauna evolved to glide between the trees, living high in the canopy and eating only eucalyptus leaves. So although it is a possum, it is also like a koala. Although unlike a koala, it has a very long tail, which it uses to help steer when in flight and also to help climb. Greater Gliders are still found in small pockets along the east coast of Australia. But as they require large trees, their habitat is shrinking due to deforestation.
